CDE news

A busy and productive year in 2011, with promising prospects for 201212/12/2011 - 12/12/2011

Over 150 business leaders and executives attended the Members Rendez-vous organised by the CDE on Monday 12 December in the Salle Belle Époque at the Hermitage hotel.

Taking advantage of the last CDE event for 2011, its Chairman Michel Dotta briefly summed up what had been achieved: 44 meetings dedicated to developing companies, promoting them and seeking out new investors were organised by the CDE, of which 35 were in Monaco and nine abroad. With the Ambassador’s Lunches, Monegasque entrepreneurs were able to update their knowledge of foreign markets and meet some outstanding speakers. During the Trade Missions, many established new business relationships thanks to targeted meetings. Lastly, the CDE Members Rendez-Vous events provided a regular opportunity for them to maintain their local networks. Regards the search for investors, the CDE opened 65 new files, of which eight have already been authorised and 23 are in the process of setting up in business.

On a more general note, the CDE again emphasised its role as a federator in uniting key players in Monaco’s economy, by involving all relevant companies, business entities and Government services in its operations. Dubbed “Team Monaco”, this type of collaboration has become an automatic reflex for the organisation. For example the CDE sits on the Government’s Conseil Stratégique pour l’Attractivité, a council examining how to best highlight Monaco’s attractiveness. It works specifically with the “Real Estate”, “Destination Monaco” and “Quality of Life” committees.

As for prospects in 2012, the CDE will continue along the same lines but with some significant new events added to the mix, including promotional operations at the e-commerce fair and the independent financial advisors convention, CIFA (Convention des Financiers Indépendants). It is also introducing Eco Monaco Club trophies in partnership with Nice-Matin, which will be awarded to deserving companies in Monaco. Abroad, research into Single Family Offices will be initiated in Dubai, then London and in Switzerland. Three trade missions are planned, two accompanying the Sovereign Prince’s trips to Mali and Turkey, and another to Kazakhstan.

The CDE organised two trade missions this year: one was to Beirut, accompanying HSH Prince Albert II’s official visit to Lebanon, with a delegation of 70 Monegasque institutional representatives and entrepreneurs, and the other a return trade mission when 60 Polish entrepreneurs and representatives came to Monaco from Poland.
