Access to the ICC - International Chamber of Commerce

(Exclusive services for members)

As its name suggests, the International Chamber of Commerce is “the” Chamber of Commerce of Chambers of Commerce. Often nicknamed the “United Nations of Business”, it is the preferred spokes-body of global organisations such as the UN and the World Trade Organization.

Established in 1919, its founding members were “merchants of peace” whose intention was to unite the international business community around the promotion of free trade and a market economy.

Today the ICC sets international standards at a global level, for example the UCP (Uniform Customs and Practices), Incoterms, ATA Carnets, etc. Its activities cover a broad spectrum from arbitration and dispute resolution to promoting the case for free trade and a market economy, while preserving the environment by encouraging sustainable development. The ICC has direct access to governments through its national committees and can be a powerful lobbying force when required. Its international secretariat is based in Paris, and runs working committees on major economic issues which report regularly on work in progress.

The WCF (World Chambers Federation) is another important element of the ICC, and enables national chambers to strengthen the ties between each other.

As the CDE is Monaco's National Committee to the ICC, all CDE members have access to its services including its business opportunities. They may also be invited to take part in ICC committees relevant to their field of expertise. CDE members can also take advantage of the ICC’s specialist bookstore at preferential rates.

More generally, ICC Monaco is a real opportunity for the Principality to provide a voice for Monegasque entrepreneurs on important economic issues concerning international trade.
It is also an excellent opening for Monaco to give a voice to Monegasque lawyers and experts on important issues related to international arbitration. The Monegasque lawyer Géraldine Gazo represents Monaco at the International Court of Arbitration (Etude Maître Géraldine Gazo).
